Community Food Hub since March 2020

home charity2 sep2

We have been a community food hub since March 2020, we set up in light of covid 19 pandemic, we started off sending out a very small parcel with a toilet roll, tea bags and a couple of biscuits, these was basic essentials for people who was classed as vulnerable and shielding.

With the help of the community this rapidly changed and we noticed a change of people who needed a food package. Families started to come forward where they had lost their jobs or on furlough and struggling. Our group then made contact with Morrisons at Stockton Heath, Asda Cockhege and The Coop on Cotwold rd, they soon helped us to turn these small brown bags into a food hamper full of things a family would need to help see them through. Since then one of our Founder members contacted Allied Bakery in stockport and they donate 65 loaves of bread a week and Thanks to Pam our Club secretary we also get 20 loaves from Warburtons each week too. Now we are more settled and in a better routine we have fresh eggs delivered and fresh veg brought in each week.

  • UHT Milk

  • Tinned meat (corned beef, Stewed Steak, Tinned ham)

  • Tinned hot dogs

  • Tinned Tuna

  • Chicken curry

  • Jars of Pasta sauce

We have over 20 fabulous volunteers who selflessly give up their time each week to come and help, we have a team who organise the drivers routes and then pack up the hampers to suit each family. They make sure there is enough food to last at least 4 days per household, we base this on how many are in the family from single people to a family of 11.
