Our Fabulous Volunteers
We have over 20 fabulas volunteers who selflessly give up their time each week to come and help, we have a team who organise the drivers routes and then pack up the hampers to suit each family. They make sure there is enough food to last at least 4 days per household, we base this on how many are in the family from single people to a family of 11.
Our volunteers come from all over Warrington with as far as Croft. In Croft they have a group called Crofter helping Crofters and they are a huge support to helping hands. Our volunteers Diane, David and Joan always ask what we need and they then pass it on to the Crofters and then Diane and Joan will turn up with car boots full of amazing donations.
We also have a team of very dedicated drivers, they use their own cars and fuel. We have 3 driver volunteers per day, they can take between 10 to 15 hampers each, we also have fundraising volunteers who come up with ideas on how to raise funds for our group. So far we have run a bonus ball club, Tombolas, Raffles and our newest game is the 200 club which has been a huge success.
Another branch of helping hands is our litter picking team, we have a small group of people who love to go out in the community and do small litter pick, we love to encourage this and our way of helping is having litter pickers to lend out to the community.
As February is coming to an end, its time to announce our volunteers of the month. This is no easy task.
We have chosen Diane and David who are from Culcheth and Croft.
They come all the way to Orford each week and help to deliver the parcels around the whole town. Nothing is ever to much trouble for them, Diane NEVER turns up empty handed she always has a car full of donations she has collected. David is always on hand to cover extra routes and when anyone is off. You 2 are a total asset to Helping Hands and we are proud to call you our team mates!
Thank you for all you do 💙💙
